The Path

Learn how to get the most out of Lightroom 5 in this workshop. Using a (voluntary) "project based" approach you will manipulate your pictures using the efficient Lightroom workflow. Your journey begins with the import and will include organizing, editing, selecting, collecting, processing, and presenting. Your ultimate destination is a fine quality print, but there are many useful tools in Lightroom we will employ along the way. Learn how to "Publish" to social sites, retouch, make a book, map your trip, prep images for the web, install pluggings, design a printed piece (with Lightroom and Photoshop or some other editor), produce a slide show and master Lightroom's powerful "Print" module. It's all here, soup to nuts.

NOTE: We will be using Lightroom 5 for this series but most of the content is appropriate for users of LR 4. This workshop is for INTERMEDIATE OR ADVANCED digital photographers already familiar with the Lightroom interface. Small class, maximum of 12 participants, definitely not appropriate for beginners!!!! Bring your laptop with LR4 or 5 installed.

Lightroom was used to create most of the images on my website.

Seeing Well

Winter Leaves

A good picture is one you haven’t seen before, taken from your unique point of view. It is one that makes the viewer say, “Wow!” This workshop is about training your eye to “see” the picture. It is about using the right light, good composition, your imagination, and an original approach. It is about making (not taking) pictures that are worth a second look. This course consists of four hands-on, two-hour meetings for anyone with a camera or a cell phone. We’ll work indoors and out, learning how to make pictures that are original and evocative.

Important: This is not a class on how to use your point-and-shoot camera. You should already know how to do that. You must also know how to submit your homework assignments via email.

"The Fall Of The Leaf" at Blithewold Gardens & Arboretum

"The Fall Of The Leaf" by Gina Campbell

Check out the photos from our workshop...  a good shoot on a perfect day in a spectacular garden.

The image to the left  by Gina Campbell was voted best "Fall Of Leaf".

The ones in the grid on the right are the "missing" ones, and were not shown...  but you can see them now.

(They had gone missing because the date set in photographer's camera was incorrect. They ended up in another folder.)

Those in the grid on left were discussed in class. Click to enlarge and please share these on Face Book and elsewhere!
