Nelson Mandela spent 18 of his 27 years in this prison. The man pictured, our tour guide, was also a prisoner there during Nelson's years on this barren rock far from Cape Town (first picture, Table Mountain). in the distance. We arrived shortly after the main cell block had just received a fresh coat of paint but this was clearly not a place you'd want to spend time.
